Web based Lesson Plan

SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD

LEVEL: Form 1 (Intermediate to Advanced)

TIME: 1 hour

AIMS:

  1. To enable students to understand the description of the Seven Wonders of the World.
  2. To expose students to the current seven wonders of the world
  3. To give students opportunities to practice speaking skills.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Computer that have access to the internet. One computer for at least 2-3 students.

2. Each student has a blog that created especially for English classes

3. Students have linked their blog to the teacher’s blog.

4. Students know how to use web browsers such as Google and Youtube

5. Students know the basic knowledge on how to use Microsoft word.

6. Students have a piece of paper and a pen.

PREPARATION:

1. Prepare worksheets based on website(s) chosen.

2. Check the internet connection in the computer lab.

3. Check the website(s) and make sure the sources can be access

4. Post the worksheet at the teacher’s blog

PROCEDURE:

1. Teacher asks students to switch on the PCs and work in groups (2-3 students)

2. Teacher asks the students to go to this website for pre-learning/set induction, http://www.purposegames.com/game/the-new-7-wonders-of-the-world-quiz and asks the students to complete the quiz

3. Teacher asks students to open the teacher’s blog to see the instructions and activities for the lesson.

4. Teacher asks the students to open this website http://www.7wonders.org/wonders/new-seven-wonders.aspx , which is written on the teacher’s post about the activities.

5. Teacher asks few students to read the paragraph to their classmates

6. Teacher instructs students to write down important points in the website about the Seven Wonders of the World.

7. Teacher asks students to download the worksheets in the teacher’s blog.

8. Teacher asks students to complete the first tasks in the worksheet 1 and 2

9. Teacher chooses several pairs to read out their answers aloud and asks other students to check.

10. Teacher asks students to post their answer in their blogs.

Follow-up Activity:

1. Students are asked to search the current nomination for the new 7 wonders of the world and the teacher asked the students to write an essay about the history of Seven Wonders of the World and the importance of it in their essay book and submit it next week.
